That tradition continues; 70 years later, we still do our own produce buying. Unfortunately for us, we have to get there a bit earlier than Frank did ? 1:00 a.m. Fortunately for you, we do it, three times a week. Getting there first allows us to buy the highest quality, freshest fruits and vegetables, and gives us first shot at those items in short supply. This gives you the opportunity to purchase produce not available at other stores. We're also buying more produce directly from the grower. This makes it possible for us to stock produce not grown in sufficient quantities to be sold at the wholesale markets.

We take great pride in offering what we think is the finest selection of organic produce available. We insist that our organic produce meets the strict guidelines of the Certified California Organic Farms. If it says organic, you can be assured it is. We set the same high standards of quality for taste and appearance for our non-organic produce. If we don't feel good about selling it to you, we don't buy it.

In addition to our insistence on the highest quality, we try to provide unusual and special produce you can't get elsewhere, like Forrell Pears, Fingerling Potatoes, Pink Lady Apples, Baby Red & Green Romaine mix, and Zante Currants (Champagne grapes).

Along with our excellent quality produce, both organic and non-organic, you'll find friendly, knowledgeable people who know their produce and are more than happy to answer your questions. We're proud of our Produce Department. We know that Frank would approve.
