Ever since Frank Canepa helped fight the Mt. Tam fire in 1929, the Canepa family and the Mill Valley Market have tried to be "good citizens." As Frank told his family, "You always give back to your community."

For 70 years, they have been giving back to the community which has supported the Market for so many years. That commitment has been met by both the Market as a business, and by members of the Canepa family as individuals.

Because they have been well served by our local schools, the Canepa family has a strong interest in youth and education. The Market's "Support Our Schools" campaign has raised almost $200,000 for Mill Valley schools. Members of the family have been involved at every level, from PTA member to serving on Kiddo.

The Canepa family has also been very active in local civic organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Storefront Merchants Association, the Business Advocacy Committee, the Rotary Club and Lion's Club. They've worked in support of the library, the community center, music programs, the Redwoods Retirement Community and other senior citizen programs, and have coached baseball, soccer and basketball.
